Quarterly situation of Italy-EU financial flows: 1st quarter of 2005

This publication examines the overall trend of financial flows between Italy and the European Union concerning the 2005 January-March period in terms of Italy's contribution to the European Union General Budget and credits resulting from the implementation of EU policies in Italy. Specific sections are devoted to the overall situation of the 1st quarter of 2005 and to the net position of our country towards the European Union.

Italy's contribution to the European Union General Budget is described on a monthly basis and according to the current system of the European Community's own resources. In the 2005 January-March quarter, Italy contributed to the European Union General Budget a total amount of 4,945.00 M Euro.

EU credits representing the financial effects of EU policies concern the EU budget financing of the Common Agricultural Policy and of social and economic cohesion structural policies. Data are examined by planning period, objective, financial source and action. In the quarter under examination credits amount to 4,685.00 M Euro

The total data for the first quarter of 2005 indicate that Italy's net position towards the European Union shows a negative balance of 260,00 M Euro.
