The State Accountant General ensures unity of direction and coordination of the State General Accounting Department activities and the associated Accounts Offices systems. The Deparment of General Accounts deals with budget policies and the coordination and assessment of public expense trends, over which it controls and verifies regulatory provisions, ensures that feasibility appraisals are made, evaluates the economic-financial significance of the provisions and initiatives of new regulations, including European significance, makes charge estimates and verifies their consistency with planned public finance objectives. The State Accountant General sits in numerous advisory committees, councils and boards.
