The State General Accounting Department is part of the Ministry of Economy and Finance structure With more than 5 thousand employees in a complex organization, it is divided into a central unit with headquarters in Rome, comprising Inspectorates Generals, and territorial offices with units in the main Spending Ministeries (CBOs, at the Ministeries' headquarters) as well as provincial units (PAOs, territorial officies).
